Seasons

Nowruz is crowded, a summer noon is hard, and autumn is better for walking.

Spring and summer

Spring has weather for Torghabeh, Kang, Akhlamad and Haft Howz, and Nowruz fills the shrine and the hotels. If you want a quieter pilgrimage, a mid-week after the holiday is more reasonable.

A summer noon in the courts and at Koohsangi is harsh sun. The western valley is cooler but not shaded. Carry water.

Autumn and winter

Autumn is the most even season for walking the centre and the parks, and fresh saffron shows up more in the windows. Rain makes the mountains slippery.

In winter many people still come for pilgrimage. The western road and Kalat may ice over. The Shirbad piste only means something with that week’s snow.
