Pilgrimage, without guesswork

Entry, dress, crowds, and the difference between a court and a museum.

Entry

You leave your shoes at the entrance. There are several gates, and in a crowd one may be slower. Do not forget the locker you came from.

Lighten a heavy bag before the gate.

Dress and crowds

Respectful dress is required. A chador is often available at the door. It is busier around prayer, on Thursday and Friday, at Nowruz and during Dahe-ye Karamat. The middle of an ordinary day is quieter.

This text does not replace an official notice from Astan Quds. If a particular gate is closed, that day’s sign is the one that counts.

Museums

Museums inside the complex do not share the courts’ hours. If you want a museum, ask that day.
