Khajeh Rabi

An octagonal Safavid tomb in the north of the city, with tilework, and quieter than the centre.

The building

Khajeh Rabi is in northern Mashhad and is associated with Rabi ibn Khuthaym. Today’s building is octagonal and tiled, and is known as a Safavid work from the time of Shah Abbas.

It is not Khajeh Abasalt in the south. The names are similar and the directions are opposite.

What to expect

The grounds suit a quiet visit and do not need to be joined to the shrine. The crowd here is not comparable with the centre on a holy day. If there is a sign for hours or entry, read it that day.
