The complex

Nader Shah Afshar has a mausoleum in central Mashhad, separate from the shrine itinerary, yet reachable on foot if you are already in the centre. The bronze of Nader on horseback, by Abolhassan Sadighi, is the image you see from outside.

Beside the tomb is a museum of the Afsharid period: arms and objects. Walking the garden is not the same as entering the museum, and the museum may be closed on a given day.

How to see it

It suits a stop of about an hour between other errands in the centre. Ask the ticket price that day. For a wider history of Khorasan, the museum beside Koohsangi is on another scale.
